Unless noted otherwise, ALL programs (children & adults) require registration. This is easily accomplished in person or by telephone. As public servants, we are doing our best to use the tax dollars you provide in a fiscally responsible manner. Booking a speaker/entertainer/author, etc. typically involves a fee and registration in advance lets us know whether or not there are enough patrons interested in a program before we spend that money. Many libraries have started to charge token fees for all programs to get a better handle on attendance and to offset program costs. We are very reluctant to follow suit and respectfully ask for your cooperation. Conversely, registering for a program, confirming your attendance the day before, and then not showing up is obviously not very helpful. From a courtesy standpoint, having to take extra time to set up additional chairs, or make extra tags for children, etc. delaying the scheduled start of a program, is certainly not fair to the patrons who signed up in advance. |
