Food for Fines program
February 15, 2021 - March 15, 2021
What is it?
Food for Fines is a food drive hosted by the library, during which patrons can donate non-perishable food items in exchange for overdue fine forgiveness. The food items will be donated to Our Savior's Lutheran Church food pantry. Suggested donations include but are not limited to: canned soup, canned fruit, canned veggies, canned stew, canned fish/meat, canned beans, pasta, rice, peanut butter, broth, dried herbs and spices, nuts, canned milk, oil, etc.
How does it work?
Each food item = $1 in overdue fines removed from your account!* Fine forgiveness will not be counted towards lost or damaged items, card replacement fees, or interlibrary loan fees. Patrons and community members can donate food items even if they do not have any overdue fines to be forgiven.
Bring your donations to the circulation desk inside the library -- circulation staff will accept donations and apply the fine forgiveness to your account. Donations can be applied towards any outstanding overdue fines, regardless of when the fines were accumulated.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call the library at (708) 430 - 3688.
*If you owe less than $1 in overdue fines, one food item will count towards the forgiveness of your full overdue balance. Patrons may not receive a credit by donating more food items than equal to the balance owed.
