Large Print Collection

PTLPD has a circulating collection of over 2,000 audiobooks. You can browse our nonfiction and fiction Audiobook collections online.
Desktop magnifer with monitor
This desktop magnifier allows you to start to read at the top of a page, and then continue all the way down till you reach the bottom of the page. The device offers continuous magnification from 1.5X to 75X and adjustable brightness. This magnifyier is available in our Adult Services department. It is first-come, first-served and there is no time limit to how long patrons can use the device.
Homebound Library Service
Our homebound delivery service gives you access to materials when you are unable to visit the library in person due to a temporary or permanent disability. If you are a Prairie Trails Public Library District cardholder and are unable to visit the library due to illness, disability, or age, you can sign up for homebound delivery service. We can deliver and pick up materials on a monthly basis. All PTPLD materials are available for delivery with the exception of new DVD releases. This is a free service to PTPLD patrons. Accessible Public Access Computer station
PTPLD offers an accessible public access computer station for patrons who use wheelchairs.
Closed-caption Video
Many DVD's in the library's collection offer closed-captioned viewing. You can browse our DVD collection online.
Other Services
Illinois State Library Talking Book & Braille Service
The Talking Book and Braille Service (TBBS) provides audio and braille library service via mail or digital download to any Illinois resident who is unable to read standard print material due to a permanent or temporary visual or physical disability.
As the Regional Library, TBBS acts as the liaison to the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS) and circulates books to all residents enrolled in the Talking Book and Braille Service.
